August Update

24 Hours of Big Bear
It has been a while since I’ve updated my blog, so I will fill you in on events that took place in recent months as well as what I have planned for the near future.

As many people know, I competed in the 24 Hours of Big Bear mountain bike race with teammates Craig Stanton, Andy Lally and Mike Simon. I am very proud to say that our planning, preparation and hard work paid off. Our team won the Sport Male Category, besting 32 other teams. Overall, our team finished 21st out of 174 teams.

Winning the 24 Hours of Big Bear was a huge victory for myself and my team mates as we dedicated a tremendous amount of time and energy into preparing for the race. I gained a vast amount knowledge and experience from this event, acquiring skills which I know will be applied in the future. It feels great to back up my win at a 12 hour mountain bike race last year with a win at the 24 Hours of Big Bear.

I’m now locked in and focusing my energy on preparing for the Shenandoah 100, a 100 mile solo mountain bike race that takes place on September 6th in Stokesville, Virginia. The Shenandoah 100 is an extremely grueling event. The fastest professional riders have completed the race in seven and a half hours, my goal is to complete the event in under ten hours.

While I have successfully competed in several other biking events this year, the 24 Hours of Big Bear and the Shenandoah 100 have been my primary focus.

After the Shenandoah 100 I will spend a week in Salt Lake City training at altitude with Craig Stanton as well as attend the Grand-Am race at Miller Motorsports Park. I have some meetings planned during this event which I look forward to. While I have put a lot of effort into my cycling and training this year, my main focus remains on my career as a racing driver.

After Salt Lake City I will travel to Long Beach, California with Craig and spend about a week training in southern California. I have several meetings in California as well.

I will write another update after the Shenandoah 100.

Michael
